Paint Scheme Grades-October 7, 2017

By David G. Firestone

Derrike Cope #00 Starcom Fiber Chevy SS-It’s a bit too ambitious, even for a good fade. It isn’t terrible, but they tried to do too much with this design. I typically like fades, but this one is too overdone. C

Danica Patrick #10 Warriors In Pink Ford Fusion-Well, Pinktober is upon us, which means pink for breast cancer. If you haven’t figured out that this whole thing is a scam, then I can’t help you. I’m going to continue my tradition of calling out this scam by giving an automatic F to any pink car in October, starting with this one.

Corey LaJoie #23 Freshbeards Toyota Camry-Plain black with white logos is a great look, which will always earn an A.

Ryan Newman #31 Childress Vineyards Chevy SS-It’s a decent design scheme, though it is a bit over done. The color scheme is good, so I’ll give it a B.

Ryan Newman #31 Wastemasters Recycling Chevy SS-See above. B+

David Ragan #38 The House.com Ford Fusion-Great color scheme, great design scheme, great look! A

Jimmie Johnson #48 Lowe’s/Sharkbite Plumbing Solutions Chevy SS-New sponsor for 2017, same as Lowe’s, but with Sharkbite Plumbing Solutions on sides. F

BJ McLeod #51 Donnie Neuenberger Foundation Chevy SS-I get what they are trying to do here, but the fact is that the car is just a tad over designed, The wave pattern could work if it was a bit simpler, but it’s a decent, scheme, worth a B+.

Brett Moffitt #83 Hikvision Toyota Camry-BK Racing seems to pride itself on over-designing their cars, and this design is no exception. The color scheme is good, but the car is so needlessly over designed that it can’t save the scheme from an F.

Paint Scheme Grades-September 30, 2017

By David G. Firestone

Austin Dillon #3 Chevy Accessories Chevy SS-Same scheme as #31, same A grade.

Reed Sorenson #15 Ol’ Hick Hickory Pellets Chevy SS-It’s a smooth look with a good color scheme, no complaints here! A

Daniel Suarez #19 Comcast Business Toyota Camry-Same scheme as last year, same D- grade.

Matt Kenseth #20 Sirius/XM Toyota Camry-While it still needs work, it’s much better than the #77! the color scheme is better, as is the design scheme. I’ll give it a B+.

Corey LaJoe #23 Schroth Racing Toyota Camry-It’s an ugly, over designed mess, with a bad color scheme, specifically, the shades of yellow used. It’s hurting my eyes, so I’m going to give it the F it deserves.

Chase Elliott #24 NAPA Brakes Chevy SS-New scheme for 2017, same as NAPA but with BRAKES on sides. A

Matt DiBenedetto #32 Ford Eco-Boost Ford Fusion-Its got a good color scheme, but in terms of design, it is over designed. I don’t like amount of stripes, and the lack of red doesn’t help. It’s still a decent scheme, and it earns a C-.

Gray Gaulding #55 Wind River Toyota Camry-This scheme would work with if the green on the front were used as the scheme OR the fade were used, but the combination of the two looks awkward and forced. It just doesn’t look good, and it earns an F.

Brett Moffitt #83 Super Donut Toyota Camry-Everything I said about the #23 applies here, but the addition of red just makes this worse. F

Paint Scheme Grades-September 23, 2017

By David G. Firestone

Austin Dillon #3 Dow Univar Chevy SS-Same scheme as Dow, same A- grade.

Kasey Kahne #5 Great Clips Strong Against Cancer Chevy SS-It’s a great scheme, the crayon motif works, and the car has a great color scheme. Nothing bad here! A

Kyle Busch #18 Skittles Sweet Heat Toyota Camry-Purple can be a very iffy color, but this dark purple works very well, and the flame motif works well too! It’s a great look. A

Corey LaJoie #23 Jewel-Osco Toyota Camry-Too many different shades of red, too many cutting edge designs, and the less said about that…thing on the quarter panel, the better. F

Ryan Newman CAT D100 Chevy SS-The D100 motif actually works much better than the regular scheme. There is some room for improvement, but it’s a great look. I’ll give it a B+

Matt DiBenedetto #32 Incredible Bank/TMNT Ford Fusion-It’s an ugly, over designed mess that just looks awful! There is nothing good I can say about this! F

Jeffery Earnardt #33 HULU/TMNT Chevy SS-See above. F

Ray Black Jr. #51 Chevy SS-The water motif works very well, though it should be on both sides. It is a bold look, and it’s done well. A

Gray Gaulding #55 US First Responders Association Chevy SS-Using the Bodine throwback works well and the car has a nice look. It’s worth an A.

Timmy Hill #66 U.S. Chrome Chevy SS-Same scheme as Poker Palace, same D+ grade.

Michael McDowell #95 Devour Frozen Meals Chevy SS-Its a little overdone, and the green looks really out of place. It’s not bad, but not great. I’ll give it a C.

Michael McDowell #95 Procore Chevy SS-Black and orange is an under rated color scheme, and the hexagon motif works well. It’s a well-done scheme. A

Paint Scheme Grades-September 16, 2017

By David G. Firestone

Austin Dillon #3 Dow Therm Chevy SS-The hood represents cold, the sides represent heat, and the car looks great across the board. A

Hermie Sadler #7 We’re Game Chevy SS-It’s a great color scheme that gets lost in the over designed sides. It’s not completely terrible, but it’s not great. I’ll give it a C-.

Danica Patrick #10 Warrior by Danica Patrick/HSN.com Chevy SS-It’s a rather finicky color scheme not helped by being a tad over designed. It would be better with a different color scheme.  All in all, it’s worth a C-.

Matt Kenseth #20 American Red Cross/Toyota 4 Good Toyota Camry-Same scheme as white Toyota Care, same D- grade.

Joey Logano #22 American Red Cross Ford Fusion-With the right color combination, the Penske template can work quite well. This is the right color combination. Red and white work very well, and the car looks good. A

Gray Gaulding #23 Sweet Frog Toyota Camry-Last year’s scheme was a front runner for Worst Paint Scheme Of The Year in the Paint Schemies, and the 2017 is actually worse! The color scheme is awful, but the design just makes the scheme look more repulsive than it is. I wish I could give it lower than an F, but I can’t.

Chris Buescher #37 Nature Valley Chevy SS-This is a bold yet subtle scheme, with a great color scheme, which will always earn an A.

David Ragan #38 1000 Bulbs Ford Fusion-The only reason that this scheme was awarded a D+ is that the color scheme is good, and fits the design scheme. The design scheme is horrible by itself, saved only by the color scheme.

BJ McLeod #51 Bubba Burger Texas Strong Chevy SS-It’s a classic look, and a great color scheme. Nothing wrong here! A

Martin Truex Jr. #78 Auto Owner’s Insurance Toyota Camry-Same scheme as white Auto Owner’s Insurance, same A grade.

Corey LaJoie #83 Safeway Toyota Camry-Too many designs, not a good look. Not even a great color scheme can save this from an F.

Corey LaJoie#83 Champion Machinery Toyota Camry-The color scheme is great, but the car is somewhat over designed, but it’s not as bad as it could be. It’s not terrible, not great, worth a C.

Paint Scheme Grades-September 9, 2017

By David G. Firestone

Jamie McMurray #1 McDonald’s Throwback Chevy SS-It’s a pretty faithful replica of the Hawaiian Tropic scheme, but with McDonald’s logos. It’s a good look, and it earns an A.

Kevin Harvick #4 Busch Throwback Chevy SS-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

Trevor Bayne #6 Advocare Throwback Ford Fusion-Advocare always does a great Mark Martin throwback, and this Stroh’s throwback is no exception. It’s faithful, and it looks good. A

Reed Sorenson #15 Xchange Of America Throwback Toyota Camry-Motorcraft schemes have ranged from good to great, and while this one falls into the “good” category, it’s a great look…even if it’s on a Toyota. A

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. #17 Fifth-Third Bank Throwback Ford Fusion-I was wondering when this scheme would be run as a throwback, and I’m glad it’s here. The block fade was a unique and amazing look, and it was redone very well. A

Matt Kenseth #20 Circle K Toyota Camry-I don’t like the changes here. It thought the scheme was great, but the orange numbers take it down from an A to an A-.

Paul Menard #27 Menard’s/Dutch Boy Throwback Chevy SS-Same scheme as Dutch Boy, same A grade.

Jeffery Earnhardt #33 Hulu Throwback Chevy SS-The Lowe’s Foods scheme is criminally overlooked when talking about Dale Earnhardt’s paint schemes, and it’s a shame. It’s a great look, and the new version looks good, so it earns an A.

Landon Cassill #34 Love’s Truck Stops Throwback Ford Fusion-Same basicscheme as last year, same A grade.

Chris Buescher #37 Cheerios Throwback Chevy SS– I’m going to quote my Throwback Thursday article on this scheme: “No the Buick isn’t butter flavored. Red, Yellow and white with a curved stripe up the side is a good look. I also like the logo curved over the wheel well. The gold reflective numbers look good, and the black outline works very well. The white looks really good on the Buick. The Butter Flavored letting could be in a different color, as it sort of blends in to the stripe. I also like the lettering on PATTY MOISE above the door.”A

David Ragan #38 Good Sam Throwback Ford Fusion-It’s more of a fauxback, but it’s a good look, with a good color scheme, and I’ll give it an A.

Kyle Larson #42 First Data Chevy SS-The fade works very well, and the circuit design works very well with this scheme. It’s a good look across the board. A

Kyle Larson #42 Credit One Bank Throwback Chevy SS-Not going to lie, I didn’t like this scheme when it first debuted, but as the years have gone on, it has grown on me. A

Cody Ware #51 Bubba Burger/Pray For Texas Chevy SS-It is Cole Trickle’s number, with Kyle Petty’s scheme, and it’s raising money for Hurricane Harvey victims, so it earns an A.

Cole Whitt #72 Ted Whitt Throwback Chevy SS-Ted Whitt had a really good race car, with a really good look, which is faithfully replicated here. It’s a good look, with a great history, and it’s an A scheme.

Erik Jones #77 5-Hour Energy Mosaic Toyota Camry-I get what the premise is here, but mosaic schemes never look good, and this is no exception. It’s a cluttered, jumbled mess of a scheme that earns an F.

Martin Truex Jr. #78 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Throwback Toyota Camry-This scheme, while decent, could have been a lot better. No throwback logos, no vintage design, nothing that could make this scheme a throwback. Again, it’s not horrible, I don’t like the shade of green used, but It’s worth a B-, all things considered.

Paint Scheme Grades-August 26, 2017

By David G. Firestone.

Kevin Harvick #4 Busch Outdoor Chevy SS-The slight changes did nothing to help the overall scheme. C

Trevor Bayne #6 Ford Eco-Boost Ford Fusion-The stars have been removed, and the car has a cleaner look as a result. It’s a great improvement. A-

JJ Yeley #7 Zombie Auto Chevy SS-A great scheme, it has a smooth look, and a great color scheme, and that will always earn an A.

Danica Patrick #10 Ford Throwback Ford Fusion-In honor of Robert Yates being inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Danica is racing one of Ford’s best paint schemes of all time, and it should make a permanent return as a scheme. A

Denny Hamlin #11 Sport Clips Throwback Toyota Camry– Ray Hendrick had a great look, and this great scheme looks great, and I can’t give it less than an A.

Reed Sorenson #15 Low T Center Chevy SS-Sometimes changing the primary color can help a scheme, but here, it doesn’t help at all. It’s not a good change, and it’s not a good lock at all. F

Daniel Suarez #19 Irwin Tools/Lennox Toyota Camry-The fade looks good, and the color scheme works well too. It’s a great look, and great looks earn an A.

Kyle Larson #42 Huggies Chevy SS-Same scheme as last year, same D+ grade.

Jimmie Johnson #48 Lowe’s Throwback Chevy SS-Basing a paint scheme on an old truck seems odd, but this scheme makes it work. The colors are great, and the design works well. I like this, and it earns an A.

BJ McLeod #51 Nex Transport/Spoonful Music Chevy SS-Nice look, and it has a great color scheme. A

Derrike Cope #55 La Colombe Draft Latte Chevy SS-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

Martin Truex Jr. #78 Bass Pro Shops/Ducks Unlimited Toyota Camry-I didn’t think that the Truex Bass Pro Shops scheme could get any worse…and then I saw this scheme. While the orange is logical with a hunting shop, replacing it with a lime green to purple fade is horrific. I wish I could give this something worse than an F, but sadly, I can’t.

Corey LaJoie #83 HMS Motorsports Toyota Camry-If the curves were toned down a lot, it could work. More stripes don’t always mean a better look. There are too many stripes, and the car just looks over designed. It’s design for the sake of design, and it gets an F.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. #88 Axalta/Ducks Unlimited Chevy SS-Camoflauge doesn’t work on the sides of race cars. The black and the design based on Front Row, which is already an iffy template do nothing to help this scheme. F

Michael McDowell #95 Race Wipes Chevy SS-If the blue was darker, only one shade was used, and the green was removed, it could be a better look. Still, it’s not bad, and I’ll give it a C-.

Paint Scheme Grades-August 19, 2017

By David G. Firestone.

Austin Dillon #3 Dow Automotive Magma Chevy SS-The look is good, it’s bold and subtle, and it earns an A.

Trevor Bayne #6 Roush Performance/Hines Park Ford Fusion-Same scheme as Roush Performance, Same A grade.

Danica Patrick #10 Colorado State University One Cure Chevy SS-Colorado State doesn’t have a good color scheme, but this scheme salvages it. I don’t like the paw motif though, so, all things considered, I’ll give it a B+.

Ryan Blaney #21 Motorcraft/SKF Ford Fusion-Same scheme as Motorcraft, Same A grade.

Joey Logano #22 Shell/Pennzoil Throwback Ford Fusion-While this scheme omits the red stripes, it’s still pretty faithful, and it’s a good look. A

Corey LaJoie #23 JAS Trucking Toyota Camry-The scheme looks just as good with black removed as it did with the white removed. A

Corey LaJoie #23 Dr. Pepper Throwback Toyota Camry-Another faithful throwback that looks really good. It’s solidly done, and it looks good. Side note, Miller throwbacks seem to be popular this year. A

Chris Buescher #37 Bush’s Grilling Beans Chevy SS-Same scheme as last year, Same A grade.

Jimmie Johnson #48 Lowe’s/Jimmie Johnson Foundation Chevy SS-It’s a better look for this year’s JJF car. The color scheme works, and the design is really good. I’ll give it the A it deserves.

BJ McLeod #51 Corrigan Oil Chevy SS-Same scheme as #15, Same A grade.

Derrike Cope #55 Mane N Tall/Straight Arrow Chevy SS-While not fully faithful to the original, it’s still a good look, with a nice fade. A

Cole Whitt #72 Bad Boy Mowers Chevy SS-A smooth simple look with a good color scheme will always earn an A.

Brent Moffitt #83 Northwestern Technological Institute Toyota Camry-A smooth simple look with a good color scheme will always earn an A.

Paint Scheme Grades-August 12, 2017

By David G. Firestone.

Kasey Kahne #5 Rated Red Road To Race Day Chevy SS-Red and black is a good combination, and this shade of red really works. I also like the fade motif, and the design as a whole is great. I can’t give this less than an A.

Clint Bowyer #14 Five Star Urgent Care Ford Fusion-By itself, the stripe motif is decent, though a bit over designed. The odd designs on the bottom stripe are out of place and don’t work well with the scheme. It looks odd. Still, the scheme is not horrible and I’ll give it a B.

Gary Klutt #15 Fusilo Construction/Color Compass Corporation Chevy SS-A solid, smooth look with a good color scheme will always earn an A.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. #17 NESN Fuel Ford Fusion-Same scheme as last year, same B- grade.

Boris Said #33 Genesee Light Beer Ford Fusion-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

Landon Cassill #34 Jacob Companies Ford Fusion-Same scheme as #38, same C- grade.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. #88 Axalta Throwback Chevy SS-It’s a faithful replica of Dale’s first scheme, and the car as a whole looks good. It’s a great throwback, and for Dale to run this in his final race, it comes full circle! A

Michael McDowell #95 WRL Contractors Alan Kulwicki Throwback Chevy SS-A bit of an odd choice for a throwback, but it’s faithfully done, and the car looks great. It works, and I give it an A.

Jamie McMurray #1 General Hydroponics/Cessna Chevy SS-Same scheme as Cessna, same B+ grade.

Brad Keselowski #2 Wurth Ford Fusion-Same scheme as last year, same A grade

Austin Dillon #3 American Ethanol Patriotic Chevy SS-The faded glory scheme works well, and the car has a really good look. It’s going to get the A it deserves.

Austin Dillon #3 American Ethanol Throwback Chevy SS-Dale Earnhardt’s Wrangler scheme is classic look, and this tribute works very well. The car has a great color and design scheme, and is getting the A it deserves.

Austin Dillon #3 Dow/Molykote Chevy SS-The color scheme is good, but the design scheme isn’t great. The gear motif doesn’t work, and the wave design is mediocre. I’ll give it a C.

Kasey Kahne #5 Great Clips/Shark Week Chevy SS-Unlike other Shark Week designs, this scheme is not over designed, and the car has a great color scheme. This scheme is getting an A.

Danica Patrick #10 Nature’s Bakery/Feeding American Chevy SS-This is a really good shade of orange, and the design scheme works well. It’s a great looking scheme. A

Danica Patrick #10 Code 3 Associates/CSU One Cure Ford Fusion-Same scheme as Code 3 Associates, but with CSU One Cure on sides, same A grade.

Denny Hamlin #11 FedEx Cares Toyota Camry-This new look is distinctive, and has a great design scheme, as well as a great color scheme. It earns an A

Ty Dillon #13 Geico Smokey Yunick Throwback Chevy SS-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

Clint Bowyer #14 Nature’s Bakery/Feeding American Chevy SS-Same scheme as #10, same A grade.

Clint Bowyer #14 Mobil 1/Rush Truck Stops Ford Fusion-Same scheme as Mobil 1 same A grade.

Clint Bowyer #14 Carolina Dodge Dealers Ford Fusion-They chose a great car, and made no changes, other than #14 from #1. It’s a great look, and it earns an A.

Reed Sorenson #15 Loser’s Bar Chevy SS-Good look, good color scheme, no complaints here, A.

Joey Gase #15 Lisa Foundation Chevy SS-The blue waves work very well, and the shades of blue work well against the white. It’s an amazing scheme! A

BJ McLeod #15 American Campus Chevy SS-Good look, good color scheme, no complaints here, A.

Gray Gaulding #15 La Colombe Draft Latte Chevy SS-It’s a bold look, and it has a great color scheme, and a nice design scheme, so it’s worth an A.

Kyle Busch #18 Snickers Toyota Camry-Were the scheme plain brown with Snickers logos, it would be worth an A. The pointless designs just take it from an A to a B-.

Daniel Suarez #19 Arris Toyota Camry-The slight change in design doesn’t take away from the scheme at all, it’s a good scheme and worth A.

Matt Kenseth #20 Toyota Care Toyota Camry-The phrase “you can’t polish a turd” comes into play here. The color was changed, some of the designs are changed around, but it still looks awful, just slightly less awful. D-

Ryan Blaney #21 Quick Lane Ford Fusion-The new design is a bold look, the color scheme works well. I like the large wrench motif on the sides. The whole scheme is good. A

Corey LaJoie #23 Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry-It’s a smooth look, with a good color scheme. A

Corey LaJoie #23 Lehigh Valley Phantoms Toyota Camry-The color scheme is good, and the design scheme works well. I like the logo near the front wheel well. It gets an A.

Chase Elliott #24 NAPA Patriotic Chevy SS-Same scheme as last year, same D+ grade.

Chase Elliot #24 NAPA Throwback Chevy SS-This throwback has a great look, and has great color scheme. It works well, and there is nothing bad I can say about it. A

Paul Menard #27 Menard’s/Moen Chevy SS–Black and blue work well with the Menard’s template, and the car has a great look as a result. A

Paul Menard #27 Menard’s/Sylvania Chevy SS– Orange, black, and yellow can work when done right. Sadly, this isn’t the case here. If it were black with orange accents, I could get behind it, but the orange just doesn’t work here. F

Ryan Newman #31 Caterpillar Throwback Chevy SS-Dale Earnhardt’s Wrangler scheme is classic look, and this tribute works very well. The car has a great color and design scheme, and is getting the A it deserves. A

Matt DiBenedetto #32 Weir’s Motor Sales Ford Fusion-This is an ugly, over designed mess with an ugly color scheme. It doesn’t look good at all, and there is nothing nice I can say about it. F

Matt DiBenedetto #32 Anest Iwata Ford Fusion-It’s a good concept for a paint scheme, but to me, it’s a bit over designed. Still, it’s not terrible, and it’s worth a B.

Matt DiBenedetto #32 Dick Stevens Snacks Ford Fusion-The white motif could work, or the green motif could work, but this is a mess. It just doesn’t work together. They are great looks by themselves, but this is akward. I’ll give it a C-.

Matt DiBenedetto #32 Keen Parts Bobby Allison Throwback Ford Fusion-I love throwbacks, and I love metallic gold. This scheme combines the best of both. I also like the redesigned Keen Parts logo to look like the Miller High Life logo. I can’t give this less than an A.

Landon Cassill #34 Love’s Truck Stops Support The Troops Ford Fusion-Changing the numbers and lettering from yellow to black does NOTHING to help this scheme. Camouflage isn’t a great thing for a race car. This scheme is getting the F it deserves.

Chris Buescher #37 Coffee Mate Chevy SS-The patriotic wave motif works very well, and the car has a great look. A

Chris Buescher #37 Bryers Chevy SS-Black and green can be an odd color scheme, but this scheme uses it very well. Add in a great design scheme, and you have a solid A scheme.

Chris Buescher #37 Clorox Chevy SS-Same scheme as Kroger, same A grade.

David Ragan #38 Shriner’s Hospital Ford Fusion-Replacing white with blue is a bold move, but they went with a great shade of blue, and the car looks good. It’s worth an .

David Ragan #38 Brandies Machinery Ford Fusion-Same scheme as last year, same F grade.

Kyle Larson #42 Credit One Patriotic Chevy SS-Let’s take a paint scheme that’s bad to begin with, and shoehorn some patriotic elements in awkwardly. The end result looks even worse than the original. I wish I could give a grade lower than an F.

Kyle Larson #42 Energizer Chevy SSNo change. C-

Aric Almorla #43 STP Throwback Ford Fusion-This is a throwback to one of the most legendary paint schemes of the 1980’s. It’s a faithful replica of Richard Petty’s 1984 Pontiac Grand Prix that he used to win his 200th NASCAR Winston Cup race. This couldn’t get any grade lower than an A.

AJ Allmendinger #47 Kroger/Cheerios/Hellmann’s Chevy SS-Same scheme as Kroger, same B+ grade.

AJ Allmendinger #47 Kroger/Nature Valley/Hellmann’s Chevy SS-Same scheme as Kroger, same B+ grade. B+

AJ Allmendinger #47 Kroger/Bryers/Velveeta Throwback Chevy SS-The Piedmont scheme is a great look, and the car is designed very well. It is a good look, and I’ll give it an A.

BJ McLeod #51 Chevy SS-When an A scheme looks better without logos than it does with logos, you’ve done something right! A

Josh Bilicki #51 Prevagen Chevy SS-Good look, good color scheme, good all around design. A

Reed Sorenson #55 Royal Teak Toyota Camry-The switch from white to black was a great move, the car looks great, and I have no complaints. A

Gray Gaulding #55 Check It For Andretti Chevy SS-Black carbon fiber is a good look for a race car, and the simple, smooth design works wonders. It’s worth an A.

Derrike Cope #55 Sundance Vacations/United Way Toyota Camry-Black carbon fiber is a good look for a race car, and the simple, smooth design works wonders. It’s worth an A

Cole Whitt #72 RTIC Coolers Patriotic Chevy SS-Some schemes look awful when patriotic elements are added, this scheme looks good. It’s a good look, and the scheme works very well. The red and white stripes look good with the blue background, and the car has an A level look.

Cole Whitt #72 Moen Chevy SS-It’s a bit over designed, but it’s not terrible, and it has a great color scheme, so I’ll give it a B.

Cole Whitt #72 Unique Pretzel Company Chevy SS-The car as a whole looks good, but the vertical fade should be down the whole side. Other than that, I don’t have any complaints. A-

Martin Truex Jr. #78 Bass Pro Shops/NRA Museum Toyota Camry-This new scheme is bold, but not under-designed. It has a great look, and it works very well as a scheme. A

Martin Truex Jr. #78 Wix Filters Toyota Camry-It’s horribly over designed, and it has a terrible color scheme. It just looks awful. I’ll give it an F.

Ryan Sieg #83 J&S Trucking Toyota Camry-The original scheme was over designed, and had a terrible look which earned a D+. Then this scheme came out, which fixed everything I hated about the old scheme, and went from D+ to A. This is a great scheme.

Ryan Sieg #83 BK Racing Graphics Toyota Camry-While I understand that this is meant to show off BK Racing Graphics, you could come up with something better than an over designed mess with a mediocre color scheme. It needs work, but it’s not completely terrible. B-

Stephen Light #83 Dustless Blasting Toyota Camry-Dustless Blasting took a bad scheme, and made it worse. The black does not work with the design scheme, and it is just an awful look. This scheme gets the F it deserves.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. #88 Nationwide Throwback Chevy SS-Not only is this a throwback to Dale Jr.’s Xfinity Series AC Delco scheme, it’s also a throwback to Dale Sr.’s Japanese AC Delco scheme. It’s a great scheme, and it looks great! A

Kasey Kahne #5 Microsoft Windows Chevy SS-Microsoft has a great shade of blue, and the car design is bold but not overdone. Its a great scheme! A

Clint Bowyer #14 Cars 3 Ford Fusion-Same scheme as #42, same B+ grade.

Kevin O’Connell #15 SBC Construction /Apollo Opening Roofing System Chevy SS-The American flag motif works well, the car looks good, no complaints. A

Alon Day #23 Earthwater Toyota Camry-Neon green and light blue does not look good on a black background. The only reason this scheme gets a passing grade is because it’s not over designed. D-

Paul Menard #27 Menard’s/Tarkett Chevy SS-The Tarkett color scheme works very well with the new Menard’s template, and the car has a great look. A

Ryan Newman #31 Chevy Accessories Chevy SS-Same scheme as Chevy, same A grade.

Boris Said #33 Chevy SS-New scheme for 2017,Same scheme as Hulu, same A grade.

Josh Bilicki #51 Marriott/Climate Fieldview Chevy SS-While the color scheme is decent, the car as a whole is seriously over designed, and the car has a terrible look. There is no way I can’t give this scheme an F.

Tommy Regan #55 OscaroParts.com/Capri Tools Chevy SS-The color scheme is great, and the simple, smooth look is worth an A.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. #88 Axalta/Fix Auto Collision Chevy SS-Same scheme as Axalta, same F grade.
