Paint Scheme Grades-June 12, 2021

By David G. Firestone

Austin Dillon #3 Congressional Sportsmen Chevy Camaro-I don’t like the green and black, they are visually distracting, and serve no purpose. Still, it isn’t horrible, so I’ll give it a B+

Aric Almirola #10 Farmer John Ford Mustang-Nothing really right, and nothing really wrong here. Just a meh scheme that earns a C.

Chris Buescher #17 Fifth-Third Bank Ford Mustang-Same scheme as last year, same B- grade.

Kyle Busch #18 SportClips Toyota Camry-Same scheme as last year, same C- grade.

Matt DiBenedetto #21 Menard’s/Knauf Ford Mustang-Black is better than baby blue with this template, so I like this much better. A

Cole Custer #41 Autodesk/HaasTooling.com Ford Mustang-Sometimes adding designs can save a scheme. This is not the case here. This is worse than last year, so this gets an F.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. #47 SunnyD Ford Mustang-Same scheme as last year, same F grade.

Josh Bilicki #52 Pacific Coast Termite, Inc. Ford Mustang-This is a great design scheme, but with the color scheme, it looks like a beach in the winter. Who wants to go to the beach in the winter? This would be better, and less baffling with red instead of blue. C

Garrett Smithley #53 RJ’s Paint Shop Ford Mustang-A smooth look with a great color scheme will always earn an A.

Ben Rhodes #77 Kaeding Performance Chevy Camaro-The patriotic motif doesn’t work well, but the black kills it. I do like the color scheme, so I’ll give it a D.

I'm just a normal guy who collects race-worn driver suits, helmets, sheet metal, and other race-worn items. I will use this blog to help collectors, and race fans alike understand the various aspects of driver suits and helmets, and commentate on paint schemes.
