Paint Scheme Grades-October 27, 2018

By David G. Firestone

First, another 2019 scheme…

Clint Bowyer #14 Blue Def Ford Mustang-Changing white to black neither helps or hurts this particular scheme. C

Landon Cassill #00 Share Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Chevy Camaro-Pinkwashing is an automatic F.

Jamie McMurray #1 McDonald’s Trick Treat Win Chevy Camaro-The drip motif works, and the color scheme works well with the design scheme.  All in all, it’s a great scheme. A

Reed Sorenson #7 Harrah’s Casino Chevy Camaro-Same scheme as #55, same A grade.

Ross Chastain #15 Durkin Tactical Chevy Camaro-It’s a smooth look with a great color scheme, and that will always earn an A.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. #17 Fastenal Pink Ford Fusion-Pinkwashing is an automatic F.

Kyle Busch #18 M&M’s Halloween Toyota Camry-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

Matt DiBenedetto #32 Can-Am/Wholey/Plan B Sales Pink Ford Fusion-Pinkwashing is an automatic F.

Michael McDowell #34 Coburn Supply Company Ford Fusion-The shade of blue is great, the white works well with the blue, and the whole car looks great. A

Kyle Larson #42 McDonald’s Trick Treat Win Chevy Camaro-While I liked the #1, replacing yellow with blue doesn’t help that much.  It’s not terrible, but the color change takes an A grade down to a B+.

Darrell Wallace Jr. #43 Transportation Impact Chevy Camaro-Petty blue and white is a great color scheme, and the design scheme works well.  All in all, it’s worth an A.

I'm just a normal guy who collects race-worn driver suits, helmets, sheet metal, and other race-worn items. I will use this blog to help collectors, and race fans alike understand the various aspects of driver suits and helmets, and commentate on paint schemes.
