Paint Scheme Grades-February 4, 2017

By David G. Firestone

Chase Elliott #24 Hooters Chevy SS-I get that the yellow door numbers are a thing with the #24, but that said, they look totally out of place here. Seriously, couldn’t they have used orange door numbers? Not only would it look more in place, but the car would look better. Also, the roof number being changed to white would work well too. It could be an A scheme but the horrible number choices take it down to a C-

Chris Buescher #37 Cottonelle Chevy SS-The color scheme is really good, and the design scheme is simple, yet bold, and it looks really good. It’s an A scheme for sure.

Aric Almirola #43 Fresh From Florida Ford Fusion-Same scheme as last year, same F grade.

Martin Truex Jr. #78 Bass Pro Shops Toyota Camry-It’s an upgrade from that orange disaster last year, but it’s still not great. Camouflage doesn’t look good on race cars, and the design scheme is a bit over designed. Still, it’s worth a C-

Dale Earnhardt Jr. #88 Axalta Chevy SS-Great color scheme, but sadly, the design scheme is horrific! Way over designed, badly executed, and an awful look that not event a great color scheme can save. This is an F scheme, and I’m being kind!
