I'm just a normal guy who collects race-worn driver suits, helmets, sheet metal, and other race-worn items. I will use this blog to help collectors, and race fans alike understand the various aspects of driver suits and helmets, and commentate on paint schemes. View all posts by dgf2099

Have you noticed the circa 1970’s to 1980’s white nomex driver suits with either an red striped or an blue striped on arms and legs area? During that time the race tire makers: “GOODYEAR” would give race drivers using their race tires, an small front “GOODYEAR” patch/ large rear “GOODYEAR” patch” white nomex driver suits with an blue striped on arms and leg area.
“FIRESTONE” would give race drivers using their race tires, an small front “FIRESTONE” patch/ large rear “FIRESTONE” patch” white nomex driver suits with an red striped on arms and leg area.
Race drivers winning races wearing these driver suits and using race tires would get extra bonus money from “GOODYEAR” or “FIRESTONE”.
