Throwback Thursday-1973 #22 Porsche 910

Raymond Touroul and Jean-Pierre Rouget 1973 #22 Porsche 910

The Porsche 910 is a very streamlined car with a very good look. The car not having a tail does look odd. The color scheme is decent, but the yellow could be much darker, which would work well with the black stripe across the bottom. It’s a decent look, but it could be better, so I’ll give it a C+

Throwback Thursday-1973 #15 Ferrari 312PB

Jacky Ickx and Brian Redman 1973 #15 Ferrari 312PB

The Ferrari 312PB is a really small and really boxy car. While Ferarri has a great color scheme, the pointless gray takes away from the red and yellow. The odd yellow stripes on the side, as well as the yellow front take away from this look further. The tail does work here. All in all, this is a forgettable look, and it’s worth a C.

Throwback Thursday-1973 #14 Matra-Simca MS670B

Patrick Depailler and Bob Wollek 1973 #14 Matra-Simca MS670B

The Simca MS670B is a very nice looking car, though I don’t like the way the tail is setup, as opposed to the MS670. This car has a nice shade of blue across the whole car. There is also a dull yellow stripe that extends from the front to the brake duct. There is also a white stripe across the whole car. The dull yellow is also on the rear fins. The paint scheme works very well. The car design does distract from a nice paint scheme, and the car as a whole is worth an A-

Throwback Thursday-1972 #41 Porsche 911S

Sylvain Garant,Jürgen Barth, and Michael Keyser 1972 #41 Porsche 911S

How much more iconic can you get for Porsche than the Porsche 911S? The 911 is a great looking car. Yet for some reason, the owners of this particular 911 decided to paint it in a mediocre shade of yellow, then add a couple of yellow logos that are almost invisible, and you have a C- scheme.

Throwback Thursday-1972 #15 Matra-Simca MS670

Henri Pescarolo and Graham Hill 1972 #15 Matra-Simca MS670

The Simca MS670 is a very nice looking car. This car has a nice shade of blue across the whole car. There is also a dull yellow stripe that extends from the front to the brake duct. There is also a white stripe across the whole car. The dull yellow is also on the rear fins. The whole car works very well. It’s a good look, with a design and color scheme that works, and it earns an A.

Throwback Thursday-1972 #7 Lola T280

Hughes de Fierlandt,Jorge de Bagration, and Mário de Araújo Cabral 1972 #7 Lola T280

The T280 is much boxier than many of the other cars of the era. It’s not awful looking, nor is it an amazing looking car. Add a really bad shade of yellow, and a series of logos seemingly randomly placed, and a shade of blue that doesn’t really work with the shade of yellow, and you have a car that just doesn’t work. It’s not a great look, and it’s worth an F.

Throwback Thursday-1971 #23 Porsche 917/20

Reinhold Jöst and Willi Kauhsen 1971 #23 Porsche 917/20 “Pink Pig”

This is a redesigned version of the Porsche 917, known as “Der Trüffeljäger von Zuffenhausen”(The Truffelhunter of Zuffenhausen) or Pink Pig. I love the way the car design looks, and I also love the fact that there are different pork cuts painted across the whole car. It’s a bold idea, but it’s well executed, and it looks great! A

Throwback Thursday-1971 #22 Porsche 917K

Dr. Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep 1971 #22 Porsche 917K

The newer version of the Porsche 917K has two large fins on the rear, which help with aerodynamics, and unintentionally made the car look better as a result. Add in the Martini paint scheme which has looked great on every car it has ever been painted on, and you have an amazing looking car. I also like how the door numbers fit the scheme well, and aren’t printed on circles. This is a car that’s worth an A.

Throwback Thursday-1971 #17 Porsche 917LH

Jo Siffert and Derek Bell 1971 #17 Porsche 917LH

Porsche’s 917LH is a beautiful car, that has a really streamlined look. The Gulf colors make a return, and merge seamlessly with the contours of the 917LH. Add in a nice looking stripe across the sides, and you have an all around beautiful car. This is an A look.

Throwback Thursday-1970 #23 Porsche 917K

Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood 1970 #23 Porsche 917K

The Porsche 917K is a decent looking car, not as polished as the 917L. It has a decent look, but I’m not a fan of the tail design. The shade of red used is not too dark, and not too light, which doesn’t work, since darker would have worked much better. The stripes are decent, maybe a bit over done. I’ll take everything into consideration and give it a B-
